Luka Bar, a company based in Montenegro, has announced a public call to sell scrap iron from the wreckage of loading bridges, grain towers, and conveyor belts that were destroyed in a storm in early July this year.

All three loading bridges that collapsed in Luka Bar due to strong winds were over 30 meters high and weighed more than 400 tons, with an estimated damage of 35 million euros, as reported by Montenegrin newspaper Vijesti.

Bids for purchasing the damaged equipment can be submitted until August 13, with a starting price of 150 euros per ton of iron. According to the public call, the entire quantity of the damaged equipment must be bought, as partial sales are not allowed.

The exact amount of scrap iron will be determined by weighing on-site, in the presence of representatives from the seller and the selected buyer.

The Montenegrin government has adopted a report stating that Luka Bar cannot overcome the situation with its own resources, requiring government assistance through appropriate funding for urgent procurement and streamlining administrative procedures to expedite necessary actions.

The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Luka Bar, is tasked with exploring all possible options to provide financial support for the repair of the destroyed port infrastructure.
