Ninoslav Cmolić, the Chief of the Criminal Police Administration (CPA), announced that due to today’s incident in front of the Israeli embassy, the police will provide security for shopping centers and public gathering places in the next few days.

„The activities of the Criminal Police Administration and the Security Information Agency will continue for much longer than that. The red alert has been issued now, due to the terrorist act that was committed on the territory of our country – how long it will last, it doesn’t depend only on the police,“ said Cmolić in front of the Urgent Centre.

He added that the police will continue activities to elucidate the terrorist act in front of the Israeli embassy.

„We will conduct searches at multiple locations, some today, some in the following days, in Mladenovac, in Belgrade, in Novi Pazar, wherever we have information that accomplices or co-conspirators are hiding – we will strike. We will not have any mercy towards these people, as the President said,“ Cmolić said.

According to him, the connection of the attackers with other individuals and potentially with foreign factors will be clarified.

He dismissed the claims that appeared in the media about a car seen near the embassy, emphasizing that the CPA is not based on that car but on other information.

„Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot discuss specific details,“ Cmolić added.

He stated that the police had information about the existence of „such individuals“, that they monitor their activities, but no one can be arrested without sufficient evidence.

„No prosecutor, no court will allow it. So, we always need a lot more effort and work to come to material evidence on the basis of which we can react,“ said Cmolić.
