Premier League is preparing for a revolution! English football super league teams held a meeting in London on Monday, with the topic of discussion being the limitation of team costs.

Most Premier League clubs agreed on some form of spending limitation, while three teams were against it. Expectedly, the richest clubs Manchester City and Manchester United, as well as Aston Villa, were against the introduction of such a rule, while Chelsea remained neutral.

According to media reports from the Island, one of the options for limiting costs is related to transfers and player salaries. Namely, it was proposed that the maximum spending amount be five times greater than what the last-placed team receives from TV rights. For example, if the last-placed team receives 50 million euros from TV revenue, no other club in the Premier League will be allowed to exceed the limit of 250 million euros.

Of course, for now, everything is at the agreement level. It is clear that the leaders of the English competition will not make any decision „overnight“ and that this is just the beginning of negotiations.

„We will wait to see all the details of the proposal, but we do not oppose the existence of such a limitation,“ said the Premier League Players’ Union.

Otherwise, the Premier League in this way wants to stop the dominance of super-rich clubs and to some extent level the playing field, so that even the teams at the bottom of the table can somewhat compete with the giants at the top.
